Mia Gundega Augis, from Westwood, MA is a senior at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She will receive a BFA in photography and a BA in sociology. Her senior photography thesis is an exploration of her Latvian culture and the importance of childhood. Through her culture, Mia has observed childhood as a threshold allowing creativity to grow alongside her. By using traditional Latvian dolls, Mia captures how much her culture influences her daily life and the importance of retaining her culture. Mia has always been interested in ways to represent her culture in her artwork.
