Now, this is a story all about how
My life got flipped-turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute
Just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became an UMass Dartmouth Corsair
In Santo Domingo I was born and raised
In the house was where I played video games
Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool
And all mashing buttons on consoles, so old-school
When one day, my dad got an offer that was just too good
But it took us way outside my neighborhood
We were packing all our stuff and my mom decided to say
She said 'We're moving to Waltham, Mass in the U.S.A.'
So I studied real hard, went to school day after day
Soon I got into UMD and I was sent on my way
Took up dual majors, Digital Media and Graphic Design
Played my tunes and said, 'Everything's gonna be fine'.
First class, yo this is rad
Joining clubs and making friends at this UMass
Is this what the people at college living like?
Hmmmmm this might be alright.
But wait I hear there's study abroad in Germany and all that
Is this the type of place that they just send this cool cat?
I really think so
Since I spent the 2014 spring semester there
I wasn't prepared for an opportunity so great and rare!
Well, let me be plain about all the work I've put out
I've tried all kinds, from web, identity, poster and book format
I ain't tied down to any single one yet
There's so much more to try, it's clear
But I spring at any chance to work on a game, if I'm being sincere
So in the spring, when the Senior project came near
Took a chance at making a game about a legendary spider that's not so meer
If anything I could say that this project was challenging and fun
And I thought 'Yeah, all right' - 'Let's get it done!'
Here I am at the Senior show, not a minute too late
My project Anansi here is done, but there's much to do
I looked at my kingdom
I was finally there
To sit on my throne as a graduate of UMass Dartmouth and CVPA
Carlos Montes de Oca will soon be graduating with Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Graphic Design and Digital Media.
